How to Become a Member of Or Ami

Benefits

Step 1: We recommend that you start by attending a Shabbat Service or other event at the synagogue to get a feel for the community. Please let us know in advance if possible which day you are thinking of coming, so that we can be sure to welcome you then.Become a MemberStep 2: If it feels like home, you can set up a time to meet with Rabbi Ahuva or email the chair of our membership committee (Terri Halperin) at belong@or-ami.com to give you a chance to ask any questions you may have about the synagogue, community, or membership process. We are happy to answer any and all questions. You can find the answers to a few frequently asked questions about membership on this page. If you don’t have any questions or things you would like for us to know about you before you join, you can skip straight to step 3.

Step 3: When you feel officially ready to join, all you have to do is fill out the Brit (“Hebrew for covenant”) membership form. This can be done via paper or online for your convenience. The first part of this membership form is sharing your contact information, important dates for your family (birthdays, yahrzeits, anniversaries, etc) and your interests. The second part of the Brit membership form is where you select or write in the monthly contribution you can make to help sustain our congregation and all of the programs that we offer. As soon as the first dues contribution has been received in the office, you are considered an official member and will receive all benefits of membership (including discounts on community events and the ability to enroll children in our synagogue’s K-8 Religious School program).
